Further Information
The travelling exhibition has always been a great success, showcasing quilts made by Aotearoa Quilters’ members, based on a theme and a set size. The exhibition travels to galleries and shows around the country for a year following its opening. All the quilts are for sale.
In 2016, a slightly different format will be used, with entries coming from regions and the challenge open to all quilters. The exhibition will be part of The Great New Zealand Quilt Show at the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre in Rotorua on 6-8 May 2016.
Representatives have been appointed in each region. They will provide a collection point and organize the selection of the best three entries from the region. These best entries will be forwarded to Valda Sutton, the convener of The Great New Zealand Quilt Show, for judging by two independent judges who will select the best 20 entries, including a winner and two merits.
The exhibition will then travel around the country until the end of April 2017. If you would like the Best of New Zealand SEWEZI Flight Challenge Exhibition to visit a show or gallery near you, contact Paula Cole (paula.cole@xtra.co.nz) to book a date. Contact us here if you have any other queries.
