YELLOW – 12 by 12 Challenge

Aotearoa Quilters Green 12 x 12.  The latest Aotearoa Quilters colour challenge is GREEN.  The idea is to complete a 12 inch X 12 inch square quilt where the colour is predominantly green. You can use any technique, and as for our previous colour challenges, RED, BLUE, & PURPLE entries have included a wide range of ideas, styles and techniques. Everyone, quilters and non-quilters alike, loved the variety and creativity. You can see examples of previous entries in our gallery and in the latest New Zealand Quilter magazine. These quilts are quick and easy to make so encourage everyone to enter! This challenge is open to Aotearoa Quilters’ members, and non-members. The ideas are endless…New Zealand’s natural green landscape, green apples & kiwi fruit, ‘green with…’, emeralds, favourite plants and scenes, that green fabric you have been saving for something special… – you will have many ideas. Feel free to share your thoughts and inspirations in the comments section below.

You can enter as many quilts as you want to.  The quilt entries are due by Wednesday 9^th September 2015 and will initially be exhibited at Christchurch Quilters Biennial show from Wednesday 30^th September until Saturday 4^th October. The quilts will also be displayed at Labour weekend in the Whangamata Patchwork exhibition, and the following weekend at the Auckland Festival of Quilts. The exhibition may move to other venues (to be advised) and all quilts will be for sale. All those not sold will be returned to their makers.

Conditions of Entry

1. Quilts must be 12 inches by 12 inches square completed
2. The 12 x 12 GREEN Colour challenge is open to AQ members and non-members.
3. The entry fee is $15 for members and $25 non-members. As a result of feedback the AQ committee has agreed that if you enter more than one quilt the second and subsequent entries will be $10 for members and non-members.
4. Quilts must have a hanging sleeve at least 6 cm deep, ending 1/2” from either end of quilt, and have the hook side of Velcro attached to the quilt. Please attach the named soft side of the Velcro for packing purposes to the hook side.
5. The works do not have to be three layers but must be able to be hung with velcro
6. Entries must be predominately GREEN
7. All quilts entered will be accepted and exhibited
8. All entries must be for sale. All quilts will be on sale for the same price as designated by  Aotearoa Quilters
   • all quilts will be for sale at $125 each
   • quilters will receive $100 for their quilt if sold
   • the remainder goes in commission to the venue and Aotearoa Quilters
9. Any unsold entries will be returned to the makers, after being exhibited at a number of venues as arranged by the AQ committee.
10. Photographed images of quilts entered may be used by Aotearoa Quilters for promotional purposes. Quilt makers will be acknowledged.
