Education Seminar 2020

Aotearoa Quilters is pleased to announce the details of our 2020 Education Seminar.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to mount an exhibition, arrange a quilt show or how to best exhibit your work?  – then this seminar is for you!

We are very pleased to welcome as facilitator and tutors:

Brenda Gael Smith: artist, curator, teacher, mentor, writer & judge
Textile artist Brenda Gael Smith has over 15 years experience in exhibition administration for various Australian art and quilting organisations. She has also independently curated several popular touring exhibitions enabling hundreds of artists to share their work around the world. As a life member of QuiltNSW, and convenor of the QuiltNSW judging education program, Brenda works with quilters from across the spectrum to develop their understanding of the visual arts and their analytical vocabulary. Her goal is not only to empower artists to exhibit their work with enthusiasm and confidence but to enhance their appreciation of other art. In conjunction with Aotearoa Quilters, Brenda has developed an interactive two-day program that includes illuminating exercises and new case studies.

Judith Schon: Convenor Auckland Symposium

Judi belongs to the Auckland Quilt Guild and was Convenor for their Festival of Quilts Show for four years. In 2019 Judi was Convenor for the Auckland Quilt Symposium 2019 – New Zealand’s biennial Quilt Symposium. Judi was also involved in the co-organising of two outdoor quilt shows “Strawberries & Cream”, fundraisers for Hospice.

Judi loves the organisational/logistical elements required to run these events, plus the challenge of working with diverse groups of wonderful volunteers, bringing everyone together to create a successful event. Everyone loves a great Show!!
