AQ Face to Face Committee Meeting Feb 2021

The AQ committee hard at work!

The second weekend in February saw the AQ committee meet in Rotorua. Once or twice a year we meet face to face to have a mega-planning session. We also meet monthly by Zoom, but these face to face meetings give us the chance to spend about 12+ concentrated hours working out details, planning, brainstorming etc.

This particular meeting had a good proportion of time spent finalising some of the details for the upcoming Great New Zealand Quilt Show. This year we are holding classes for the first time, so we took the opportunity to visit the venue to view the classrooms and familiarise ourselves with where everything will be laid out. I hope you’ve marked your calendars, purchased tickets and booked your accomodation because it’s going to be a fabulous show!

We also spent quite a bit of time planning the year beyond the GNZQS. Aotearoa Quilters has a mission statement:

It is our mission is to provide New Zealand quilters the opportunity to expand horizons, to share work, and to learn. We aim to support quilters and textile artists at all levels through offering a variety of classes, exhibitions, regional meetings and professional development opportunities.

So with that in mind, we think you’ll be excited about the activities we have come up with to help you make connections with fellow quilters, the exciting education opportunites and the work we will be doing with our regional groups.
