Bobby Duncan
Bobby Duncan has been a needlewoman since childhood, and started quilting in the late 1980s. Later she bought a long-arm quilting machine and started her dyeing adventure. Bobby has served the quilting community over many years. She was convenor of the Wellington Symposium in 2009.
Bobby became a member of the Association in 1996 and has participated in all it has to offer. She served on the committe, entered challenges, and provided generous sponsorship, support and advice along the way.
While on the committee, Bobby took up the challenge of co-ordinating Cosy Kiwi Kids – an initiative to ensure that no child in New Zealand went cold. She co-ordinated quilts, quilters, people to bind quilts and soucing materials to make sure the quilts were made. Contacting Social Workers in schools to arrange the transportation and distribution of the quilts has been a mammoth effort, with over 1000 quilts distributed.
AQ wants to thank Bobby for her contribution to Aotearoa Quilters and the quilting community here in New Zealand, and to acknowledge that by awarding her Life Membership.
