Welcome to the Hepetema/September Newsletter!
Well that’s all folks! After four years on the committee, I’m stepping down at this year’s AGM, so this is the last newsletter that I’ll be editing.

My first introduction to the AQ committee was when I was chosen to travel to the 2019 Ailsa Craig Fibre Arts Festival in Canada with Aotearoa Quilters as one of the teachers. I’d been a member for a while, believing strongly that New Zealand needs a national body for quilting to help us grow the craft and stay relevant, but I hadn’t seriously considered being on the committee.
Back in NZ I had an idea for running a 100 days project for AQ in 2020. When I proposed this, the committee agreed and I was co-opted on to make it easier for everyone involved. This eventually led to my being elected onto the committee at the next AGM and there I’ve been ever since.

I took over editing the email newsletter from Julia Arden after she retired from committee duty, and it’s been one of my greatest pleasures to bring you quilty news from around NZ, and around the world, every month. I’ve also enjoyed organising webinars, kicking off the Winter Jumpstart program, bringing you last year’s Silly Season Summer Sewalong, running one of the book study programs, and loosely being in charge of social media. We have a great committee who work extremely well together and are proud to bring the quilting community of Aotearoa a great program to inspire, to share, to teach and to foster.
Will you consider joining us?
