I am regularly asked to judge quilt shows within New Zealand.
I completed the quilt judging skills seminar by Jeannie M. Spears in 2007. I have an Advanced diploma and Graduate diploma in Visual art and a Certificate in Maori art specialising in raranga (flax weaving).
I live in Wellington, New Zealand and I teach a range of quilting and surface design classes for groups, quilt shops and for Toi Whakaari, the National Drama School. My classes include machine quilting, sashiko and boro stitching, fabric dyeing, painting and printing, improvisational piecing and bojagi (Korean inspired piecing).

Anna has a Bachelor of Design in Fashion and has worked in the quilting, textile art and sustainable fashion industry for a long time. She has exhibited work nationally and internationally, teaches many types of textile classes and has experience designing and curating quilting exhibitions as well as producing fashion shows.
Anna is a sustainable textile artist who loves getting inspired by waste fabrics and creating textile art & sustainable fashion pieces. She holds a Bachelor of Design in Fashion & is a passionate advocate for the health benefits of creativity. Anna spends her time creating, teaching, speaking and is always learning something new.
Anna teaches art quilting classes that are inspired by traditional but use modern techniques to make things easier. All classes have a focus on understanding the design elements & how to use them (or ignore them) in quilting; especially colour, value, line & movement. Most classes are inspired by using up quilting scraps and other textile waste.
The class motto is always: 'Imperfections are proof it was handmade.'

Charlotte is a quilter and textile artist. She is deeply inspired by the unique flora and fauna of NZ and by trying to capture the distinctive colours that surround her. Charlotte colours her own cloth with dye or paint, then cuts, layers and quilts. She is also a teacher, writer, speaker, quilt judge, blogger and podcaster.
My classes have a focus on working with silk organza - from colouring it with dye or paint, using it in applique or whole cloth overlays.
I also teach botanical printing, fabric dyeing and positive/negative applique.
Classes evolve and new classes are developed regularly, so please contact me.
My working life was in education and I now enjoy sharing my quilting skills with other quilters. My classes aim to encourage participants to be creative and add their own unique style and interpretation to designs. I have taught around NZ for local quilt groups, mini and national symposia.

I specialize in machine paper-foundation piecing classes, such as New York Beauty and Mariner's Compass, plus a variety of other techniques like my Shadowy wall-hangings featuring organza.

Lois Parish-Evans is an award winning textile artist and art quilter, with a background in Art(Textiles), Art Education and Art Therapy. She has a passion for textiles, drawing with both pencil and sewing machine, creativity and for people to find their own creative voice.

I am also happy to tailor workshops to suit the needs of the group.
Marge has been quilting for 35 years and teaching quilting for almost that long. She teaches both beginner and advanced classes, the advanced classes being predominantly her own designs. She has taught extensively in NZ as well as Australia, Canada and the US. She has also written many pattern articles for NZQuilter over the past 25 years.
I teach mainly piecing classes with a strong emphasis on use of colour. The piecing classes range from very simple bordered block classes to intricate log cabin, quilts with triangles of various size and shape and a number of my own original designs.
I am a self-taught textile artist. My background is in science and medicine and I work part-time as a cancer researcher. I am particularly interested in the portrayal of the human form and all parts of the human body. I create realistic textile works, mainly people, portraits and nudes, and more recently I have included some social commentary.
I use raw-edge fusible collage techniques and concentrate on photo manipulation and the use of value to portray realistic 3-D images.
I currently teach one class, my 'Hand' class, as it is possible to make a hand and learn the basic techniques in 2 days.
Mathea teaches a mix of art and design based classes, free motion quilting, and traditional methods. Each class can be reasonably tailored to the group attending. Or if the group thing isn't for you, private tutoring to your specific needs is available.
Monochromatic quilts from photos : use your own photo, a computer and selection of fabrics to create a unique wall quilt. Suitable for portraits or pictorial subjects.
I am a contemporary fibre artist, teacher and historian. I enjoy helping other artists in developing their own voice through the process of workshop
Patterns of Polynesia-Explore design, learn to draw designs informed bythese, plan and print samples which may be used later in a mixed media or fabric composition (1 or 2 day)
Out of the Earth: mud painting using local earth and mordants to colour fabric or paper (1 day)
Weaving a story: using the medium of fabric to express yourself, your story(ies) of family, place, or events. (1 or two day)
Icon painting- reflective style workshop using an icon to paint on fabric (one day)
I have been quilting for more than 30 years and have enjoyed sewing many different techniques over the years. However, by far, I enjoy working with scraps. I use my own scraps and gifted left overs to make beautiful, useable scrap quilts. I hwork with a range of favourite sizes, and challenge myself to use as many pieces as I can in each quilt.

Ronnie is a textiles and mixed media tutor . She is the founder and Creative Director for Changing Threads Contemporary Textiles /Fibre Awards Show held in Nelson each year. She is on the exec of Arts Council Nelson and is an artist member of the Nelson Suter Art Society. She teaches as part of the Creative Journeys Workshops group.
