Opportunity to sell your craft and be a merchant
Notified December 2011

The Fieldays  Society, based at Mystery Creek Events Centre, is holding Retro Fest in early March 2012. Retro Fest is a celebration of the 50′s to the 80′s and will be a postmodern revival; commemorating rock and pop culture (see the website www.retrofest.co.nz). The plan is to have a craft area at the event, which will be in a centrally placed building on-site. The intention is to bring craft people into the event, to either display their craft in action, or to teach craft skills to visitors. We are looking at retro-themed crafts, such as weaving, knitting, pottery, macramé etc.

The idea is that those demonstrating will receive tickets to get into the event, and will use the opportunity to promote their craft to visitors. You
will have the option to charge a small fee to visitors who may wish to try your craft, if there will be a cost involved (ie for  wool/paint/clay/materials). You can also use the opportunity to sell both tools for your craft and actual pieces of craft – as long as it is just a part of your display. Would your organisation be interested in such a proposition? If so contact Linda Meerkerk
at lindam@mysterycreek.co.nz

Opportunity to do a class with USA tutor Jeanette De Nicolis Meyer
Notified December 2011

I have organised international art quilter and tutor Jeanette De Nicolis Meyer to teach a workshop in Whangarei on March 10th and 11th 2012. This is a two day workshop called “Quilt and Collage with Translucent Fabrics”. I can personally vouch that she is an amazing tutor as I took a design class with her  at the Remarkable Symposium.
The cost is $115 plus there will be materials. This works out pretty well compared to Symposium. There is a $40 non-refundable deposit required and only 10 places available.
Come and visit Northland and get a chance to work with an amazing international artist!

Jeanette’s website is  www.jdmeyer.com/
