Wanting to get back to regular creative work Marion embarked on a 100-day art project. Inspired by the serendipitous beauty of her natural dyed cloth, Marion is making one A5 textile block a day for a hundred days. She uses her natural dyed, indigo and rusted cloth, thread and paper, adds found objects and completes the block with slow hand stitching.
Marion’s exhibition 100 days of art – cloth + stitch will be held during Breast Cancer Month with proceeds of entry and sales to the The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
In 2008 Marion’s fascination with the serendipitous nature of natural dyeing began and her current practice involves dyeing natural fibres using only ecologically sustainable plant dye methods – silks, recycled cottons, linens, cream wool blankets, paper and threads.
